The Sky Turned to Grey, down fell the rain, everything grew dark, as the shadows, descend from the dreary light from the pale moon. As darkness, washed over, all the things, that we hold, so close, till our heartbeat, and will start to fade, and we travel onwards We fought, through driving rain, as all light was, engulfed by, all the darkness, till the storm clouds break The Sky Turned to Grey…"

Magnetic fields, flow from the sun, travel through space, past interstellar clouds, they drift to earth As bright stellar flares, brilliantly shine, past space and time, they drift through cosmic rays, to infinity How small we seem, such fragile beings, a dot in time, is all we are, we float through stellar fields Our life we travel through space, praying that our time has some, meaning We dream, every day, hope and pray, then one day, we awake, lost in space The Solar Flare builds"

about

In December of 1996, scientists pointed the Hubble Telescope at, what was thought to be, the emptiest part of outer space, and opened the aperture for 10 consecutive days.  Upon reviewing the photo, they discovered there to be some 3,000 galaxies.  As the universe expands, the galaxies recede from earth, causing a phenomenon referred to as "red shift."  By measuring the red shift, scientists determined that some of the galaxies were more than 12 billion light years away from Earth.

To think that the light we are seeing has traveled 12 billion years, across space and time, to be captured by the Hubble Telescope, and treasured by us all, really puts into perspective, the vast enormity of our universe, and what a small, and fragile part we play in the grand scheme of things.

When we stop and appreciate that we are such a tiny part of this unimaginably infinite universe, it becomes quite difficult to continue to imagine ourselves to be some all important center of it.
